Former Mt Kenya TV journalist calls out Kirinyaga County Women Representative Purity Ngirici for not paying her employees

A former Mt Kenya TV journalist has called out his former boss, Kirinyaga Woman Representative, Wangui Ngirici, for not paying her employees for two years.

The journalist, Macharia Wangui, referred to Ngirici as a hypocrite after she asked Kirinyaga residents not to support Governor Ann Waiguru’s 2022 gubernatorial bid for failing to pay hospital workers for two years.

“I have now retreated to study my options before I make my next political move.” – Wangui Ngirici

In her address, Ngirici claimed that Waiguru was incompetent and that she had not changed despite decamping to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

“There’s no way you can employ the youth in county hospitals yet refuse to pay them for a period of two years. The youth are suffering,”she stated.

In a rejoinder, however, Macharia reminded Ngirici that she had not payed Mt Kenya TV workers for a period of two years as well, leading to loss of livelihoods and careers.

“Wangui Ngirici, before you castigate Anne Waiguru, pay our two year’s salaries…You can’t run Kirinyaga successfully if you couldn’t manage Mt Kenya TV well,” Macharia stated.

A section of journalists have previously recounted how they quit lucrative jobs and were wooed into joining the Ngirici-owned station.

The station’s management had promised them huge salaries, insurance, vehicles, mortgages, weddings and funeral covers.

However, months later, they would realize they had made mistakes after the company failed to pay their monthly salaries.

YouTuber Monica Kagoni previously narrated that she had to go back to Inooro TV and beg her former employer to take her back.

“I have to admit that I made a mistake. At the time, I was offered a lot of money by the station and because my husband and I were going through some financial difficulties, I opted to take it.”However, after just two months of working at the station, things went south and so after about five months of no pay, I quit. I felt that someone had ruined my career,” she narrated.
